about

This was a song written through the perspective of a close family member of mine. My favorite song to play live, also.

lyrics

We drank the nectar of your promises,
as our house built of stones collapsed
and as things were getting better, you said
"oh well, they won't last"

and you burned a picture into my mind
worth more than a thousand words

yeah, I'm starting to feel it
but I don't know if I want it
I'm so comfortable alone
breaking all those promises

and we're all so hopeless,
i already dug my grave
my tombstone was marked
my initials carved in.
scribbled down on a paper,
scratched in some old pavement,
the scars on your wrist,
in the poems about your hatred,
i guess i was never what you needed
i guess you left me long before you told me
you were leaving

but, the bottles can whisper your words,
and the smoke can burn like your lips,
and fingernails on my back can make up
for the lust i had reserved
with your name etched on the top
like that box of pictures in my bedroom

and the music was playing
on that old station
and the vinyls were scratched,
and refused to play
i guess thats the end of you
yeah, i guess thats the end of you.
